  911 for Kids

Red E. Fox is on a mission to find 9-1-1 Heroes. Children ages 4 through 7 years old join character Red E. Fox, two talking telephones - Whirley and Buttons - Wally Weasel and puppet children Jennifer, Linda, Jeffery and Bud in this 18-minute adventure. Visit Telephone University, participate in a Yes or No Quiz Show, and meet the Hall of Heroes who have saved lives by using 9-1-1. Children are captivated by seven-time Emmy Award winner Tony Urbano Productions and composer, record producer Gary Powell, who has produced original scores for The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and the Lion King book and tape series.
More importantly, they will learn three basic concepts about the proper use of 9-1-1:

  • KNOW WHEN TO CALL
  • KNOW HOW TO CALL
  • KNOW WHAT TO SAY

Unfortunately, many of the callers to 9-1-1 are young children who may be alone, frightened and unfamiliar with what they are supposed to do and say once they have reached the 9-1-1 dispatcher. This program was developed and supported by a collaborative effort from the San Jose Police Department, the California Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association, the State of California 9-1-1 Office, the Texas State 9-1-1 Commission and corporations and individual funding. The Great 9-1-1 Adventure makes learning about the proper use of the 9-1-1 system fun, easy and memorable. Targeted at the 4-7 year old, this program can be presented in schools, church and civic groups, and other venues by schoolteachers, public safety professionals - anyone who works with children.
