Wireless

There are more than 200 million wireless telephone subscribers in the United States as of December, 2009.  Wireless 9-1-1 calls currently make up 60 to 65%  of the total 9-1-1 calls currently received in the nine-county Minneapolis / St. Paul metropolitan area.  Callers who use wireless telephones to call 9-1-1 need to understand that only an approximate location of the caller is sent to 9-1-1.  To avoid delays in an emergency response, the caller will need to be able to accurately tell the 9-1-1 call taker where they are or where the emergency assistance is needed.
